It's that time of the year again, Fishn for the Mission tournament. Fishing for the Mission is an annual tournament for Dorado with an "other species" category, that benefits the Mission and people of Loreto. It's a great event for our community. It is a two day tournament, yesterday being the first day our team decided to go out far with big hopes of finding big dorado since everything closer in has been small. Day one ended up being a long boat ride, not being able to find any sargasso left us with some small mahi-mahi mahi-mahi we caught while trolling. Day two started off with a bang, this morning the sun was barely even up  as we came across our first paddy loaded with dorado. We had some fun for awhile but weren't getting the size we were hoping for continuing on with not a lot of luck a team decision led us to shoot for the other species category. So off with wishes to land some big alma jacks and or yellowtail. Our plan paid off and we landed some good sized yellowtail and cabrilla. Off to the scales we went. We ended up getting 3rd place in the "Other species" category but had a great two days on the water and caught a lot of fish. Overall the weekend was good for all participants. Thanks to all for organizing and participating in this great event hosted by Chris Wheaton.

Today well today...lets just say it was one of those days you dream about! Weather was perfect with a slight breeze. The Sea of Cortez was absolutely beautiful, the water color and temp was the best we've seen in awhile. We were on the hunt for sargasso, heading offshore our eyes were working hard. Boom there it was the paddy we were looking for, instantly spotted and started hooking dorado. We caught a few and decided to keep going further out to see what else we could find, there it was again an area of sargasso and it was "wide open" on dorado!! The dorado were everywhere. After some fun chaos we decided to keep heading out and start trolling. The dorado were so thick we couldn't get away from them haha. Here they were again striking our Magbay lures. We limited out on dorado so pulled the lines in and continued further offshore to try and find some tuna and marlin. While trolling further out we had a solid marlin strike again on our Magbay Lures, continuing on we caught and released a beautiful sailfish. Making our way back to Puerto Escondido we had a very large stripped marlin checking out our lures, it was a very large and beautiful fish, we tossed a live bait in but had no luck. This is a day we will all talk about for some time.
